Privacy Policy – StoreWise

1. General

Protecting your data is important to us. StoreWise was designed so that all content is stored locally on your device by default. There is no tracking, no advertising, and no profiling. This privacy policy informs you about which data is processed and for what purpose.

3. What data does StoreWise process?

3.1 Stored locally on the device

StoreWise stores exclusively locally on your device:

• Pantry items (e.g., name, quantity, category, expiry date)
• Storage locations (e.g., refrigerator, pantry cupboard)
• Photos of items or storage locations (optional)
• App settings

This data does not leave your device unless you voluntarily use the backup feature.

3.2 Cloud backups (optional)

StoreWise can automatically create encrypted backups of your app data:

• iOS: stored in the app’s private iCloud area (CloudKit / app-specific storage)
• Android: stored in the protected Google Drive app area (appDataFolder)

These backups:

• are not visible in the regular iCloud or Google Drive storage
• can only be used by StoreWise
• are used solely for backup and recovery

The provider has no access to this content.

4. Control over cloud backups

Cloud backups are created automatically to prevent data loss. If you do not want cloud backups, you can disable them at any time in your device’s system settings:

• iOS: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps using iCloud → disable StoreWise
• Android: Google Account → Drive → App data / app permissions or adjust backup settings

Disabling this prevents future automatic backups from being created.

5. No sharing of data

StoreWise:

• does not share data with third parties
• does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising services
• does not create user profiles

Apple (iCloud) and Google (Drive) system services are used exclusively for the backup feature.

6. Permissions

StoreWise only requests permissions that are necessary for using the app:

• Camera: to take photos and for text recognition (OCR)
• Storage / Photo library: to save your own images and select existing images from the library
• Notifications (optional): for reminders about expiry dates

All permissions are optional and can be revoked at any time in the system settings.

7. Deletion of data

You have full control over your data at all times:

• You can delete local data within the app or remove it by uninstalling the app
• Cloud backups are deleted automatically when you remove the app or are no longer updated when you disable the backup feature

8. User rights

You have the right at any time to:

• information about stored data
• deletion of all data
• restriction of processing

Since all data is stored locally or in your personal cloud storage, you can exercise these rights directly yourself.

9. Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may be updated, e.g., when new features are introduced. The current version is always available in the app and on the website.
